Thread: List Kamisori masters / manufacturers?

Hi,

Sheffield is well described so that we know when certain manufacturers were active,
so is "Solingen", but when it comes to the makers of kamisori, it becomes a blur...

Are there persons who have info about manufacturers of kamisori, about the masters,...?

When were the Azuma, Henkotsu, Honke Nobu, Hiyoshi maru, Ittosai, Inoue Tousuke, Komashiro, Kobayashi, Kameju, Kiketeru, Masashi, Nanago yoshinobu, Nagamasa, Noboru, Okuda, Tikka, Satomura, Subora, Shizu Saburo, Teramasa, Tsurayuki, Tahoumaru, Uchiyama, Wajin, Yoshinobu, Yamamasa, Yahatamaru, Yamatobashi, Yurika, Zubora,..........
( You get my drift ) razors made???

From that List it looks like you're the expert. You seem to know more about the makers than anyone else around here.

I have a few other master / manufacturers...
The only thing I did (took a while...) was noting this down in a book when I saw them on e-bay, "jappannippon",...
with kanji, but that's it, know nothing more...

Stefan (mainaman) could probably tell you something about them. IIRC he has considerable experience with them. Maybe Zeth Lent too, he lives in Japan.

I don't know a thing at all about the Japanese makers, but I would love to have this resource available. I suspect others would too.

Sorry, I am not versed on the manufacturers of the traditional Kamisori.

I have only handled a few. Tosuke (see classifieds), Iwasaki, and Machida.
