Default Did I strike Ebay gold?

So I bought at auction last night a Wade & Butcher blade. There are no scales, but the pics look good. No obvious edge damage, and very tolerable pitting. So for $30, I have a good foundation to build a very nice razor.

One side is etched "Special", and the other bears the normal W&B manufacturing stamps. I haven't seen too many blades like this from W&B, so I'm wondering if you guys have any thoughts. I'm especially looking for scales and pins that compliment the approximate age and style of this blade, so I welcome all suggestions!

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Nice. ...at least i think so... hard to see the pic on my phone in the sun...

Anyway, I've got a pair of W&B Special scales just sitting around. they're the typical yellow plastic ones that I've seen on other Specials with "Special" on the presentation scale.

As i recall they're in good shape (I can tell you for sure when i get home).

If you want them you can have them. Id like to see them get some use w a proper W&B blade. just PM me your shipping address.

This is one I recently acquired. I believe these are the original scales, although I have seen some with blond scales and "special" etched into them in red letters. It is a fantastic shaver! Hope you enjoy yours too.

That's almost certainly the blade! Nice. Beautiful example. Do you have any idea about its age or anything? I'm really curious about it.

Not really sure, Manah would be the one to ask...maybe he or some of our other more knowledgeable members will chime in here. I do know the steel in this blade seems harder than the other W&B's that I have, and it takes and holds a great edge.

I'm my opinion the have a much different feel than the other w&b's. The blade takes more work to get a good edge but as others said it takes a great edge and holds it.

My task that lies ahead is learning the secret to holding the edge. So far the WB wins the shaving contest against 6 other makes.

I will post back in the future as I acquire more comparison results but I give them the for now.

I'm too much of a newbie to have any educated thoughts on this but seems like a good find W&B blade for $30. Throw some new scales on there and you have a nice setup.

Nice blade for a decent price. Get some scales and it should be an awesome shaver.
