Had to put it here cause its about DE's. Derby blades?
I'll be honest folks, I put it here because it's off topic AND you never know what the DE guys are calling a sharp blade.
I was looking at Derby Extra blades for a DE I have and wondered how they are?
I use a straight most times but have a spot on my neck that I have trouble getting with a straight so I use a DE on it or I get ingrown hairs.
I know, I tried and tried but I cut myself 3 times in the same dang spot and its sore so I used a DE.
I HAVE to go right with the grain or else.
Has anyone tried Derby blades or are they crap?
I saw 100 for $12.99 on Ebay with free shipping.
Sounds like a good deal right?
Oh, its a Gillette Goldtech with the handle that screws out. No plating loss and I got it free.
Thanks for not booing me!

Derby blades are highly regarded in the DE world because they give a close shave, and are somewhat forgiving. Compare them to the Feather or Merkur blades, and you will find that the Derby blades are overall preferred. I have 200 of them, and they are my main blade. You won't be making a mistake by buying the Derby. You don't have to take my word for it. Check out www.badgerandblade.com and www.shavemyface.com. You will find they are well liked.

Thanked: 9Sorry I can't help on the DE front...
but for the spot - try different things. For example:
different ways to stretch
different approach direction with blade
different razor / blade (e.g. smiling vs. totally straight, round tip vs. spike)
different hold on blade, maybe help with the second hand
Etc. - you get the idea
I am not saying this to rub it in but just trying to help. For what it's worth, my skin usually feels better after a straight (compared to a DE) - even if I cut myself a couple of times
Best of luck

Derby Extra were my preferred blade in all DE razors except the Merkur Slantbar, in which I preferred Feathers.
I found the Feathers a little too unforgiving in all other razors, but Derbys were just perfect whatever razor I used them in - very nice all rounder and a bargain too.

I've been using a Derby blade for the last few days and liked it very much, good close shaves with no nicks or razor burn.
You can get sample packs of 5 or 10 Swedish (Euro) Gillettes, Merkur, Feather, Isreali, and Derby blades here. It's a good way to be able to try the different brands to see which you like best.
That said though, it's hard to find anything but good reviews on the Derby blades.

I´ll join in on the Derby praise. I don´t use DEs much but when I do, I get great results from them in my trusty old $5 Gillette Tech.
