Just curious, would a specialty metal like Inconel or a high nickle allow make a good knife? If not, why? Tensile strength, ability to heat treat well, etc...

it's 22 euros per meter.
A whole rod is something like 4 meters and a bit, so that would be 88 ish euros.
Shipping does not cost anything, since I can collect it myself.
They have only 1 size: 8x30 mm.
It is apprently a steel type that is not sold very often, but they have 1 customer who needs it in bulk.
That is also the reason I can only buy it in whole rods.
8x30 is a bit big, but otoh it is large enough to make a 10/8 out of, if you're careful.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Ok, well this will probably seem like a crazy question or perhaps a crazy situation, but I don't actually own and have never shaved with a straight razor (just a safety razor for now). Is there somewhere I can get info on blade geometry.

I just called them to inquire about shipping prices.
40ish $ for a single metric bar of 6x30x1000 O-1.
.
.
.
180ish $ for shipping it to Belgium. And that was the cheapest option.
So I'll have to find a local source.
