Anyone heard of this?
BARBER SALON STRAIGHT CUT THROAT SHAVING RAZOR AFEITARse NAVAJA RASOIR DE RASAGE
http://bit.ly/GYvkKl
I'm usually anti-cheap-razor and probably still am in this case, but I'm intrigued. Blue is my favorite color and I like the look of this razor. I can already see it rescaled. Of course my main concern is the razor itself and its shaving ability. The description on this item says its German high carbon steel with a blue titanium coating.
Trying to decide if it's worth the money to experiment with.

That looks like one of the names on the brands to avoid list.

Several things to consider. Do you live in England? If not, is it worth international postage to satisfy your curiosity? I tend to be leery of an add that states fine German carbon steel and then cuts the sale price in half. Makes you think that based on what might be the manufacturing costs and wholesale price that they are probably still making an 80% profit on each item sold. And where does it say it was manufactured: i.e. what country of manufacture or assembly. Too good to be true comes to mind. Happy decision making.

Thanked: 13249If you want to experiment and want cheap buy a Gold Dollar at least you know with the right amount of work and some modifications it can be made to shave...
But it is not a "Beginner's razor" you have to want to experiment

It certainly does look beautiful. Blue is my favorite color as well. What size is the blade, I wonder?
I don’t know, but for about $27 with shipping, I'd be tempted to try it as well. At that price, it probably won’t be very good, but it would give you something to practice your honing on, if you hone, and if you need the practice. If worse comes to worse, it would be a strikingly good-looking letter opener ;-) If you do get it, please let us know how it turns out, ok?
Good luck to you.

I'm already awaiting a gold dollar. I plan to mess around with one of those too. I'm mainly considering this because i do actually want to experiment and learn. Could be a good learning experiment, could be a waste of time. Just wondering if anyone has been there done that.

I just did a Google search, and came up with a few discussions, about the razor you’re talking about, that took place here, on SRP, in the past —>

Why would you want to practice honing on something that can't be properly honed? It seems more likely that an older razor that isn't much to look at, but is made of quality steel would be a better subject for honing practice. At least there would be a proper edge if your practice was concluded successfully.

Not just talking about honing. I have old razors I need to hone to practice that. I just want to experiment. People like to mod gold dollars, maybe these can be made into decent razors. Maybe not, but isn't that what experimenting is about?
