    Default TI Hone wear

    I'm looking at a TI

I'm having trouble judging hone wear because of the filling on the spine, sometimes when i look at it i see little/none some times it looks like there is quite a bit even in the same picture.

    any thoughts?

The lower pic tells the tale see the brighter line that flows across, that is the hone line...

That looks like my TI Flying Eagle...with snakewood scales, maybe you can compare the two?

Damn that's pretty, I'm guessing you bought yours new?

their definitely slightly different designs, yours looks like it has no hone wear at all.

    How's the shave?

    is yours a 6/8 or 7/8?

It's new, used it about 5 times, box say's 6/8 but it's in fact a 5/8 C135, save it for special shaves...also have the 6/8 C135 Spartacus in faux MOP scales (also use rarely), and just found a new TI 6/8 hook nose C135 Wolf and Sheep with blonde horn scales...absolute beauty....haven't shaved with that one yet...just got it a couple of days ago...made by TI from a set of 100 year old blanks.

Here's the Spartacus, I really, really like the Thiers-Issard razors:

Here is another... Similar in several regards. I don't think there are any issues with the spine the OP posted. Very nice horn TI. I would hone it with one layer of tape when the time arrives.

I agree with everybody else. It looks good. I'm watching that auction as well. Don't worry, I won't bid on it.
