Thanked: 0need a answer asap i am with a seller which razor should i get?
Looking to get either a john engstrom thiers style razor with horn scales, or a garland improved eagle with eagle design on the blade and plastic black scales both are in awesome shape and i was offered both for 60 or one for 30 which i cant afford 60. im lucky to have 30 i got a rebate from the bank today. What razor has more value now, and when restored and what would give a better shave and be more sought after need answer asap. i have a similar thiers issard to the john engstrom on the way but it may not be restorable its questionable so both the engstrom and garland improved eagle are tempting i cant decide opinions?-john

First and foremost Everything about this Art involves PATIENCE!!! If you don’t have patience then this art isn’t for you!
My standard counsel to those that are new is to stay the hell away from FleaBay for at least 6-8 months and perhaps a year. This allows them to be better educated about what to look for and what to avoid!!
Pixel gave you good counsel! Pictures tell a lot about razors so that others can offer their ‘opinions’! And they are just that ‘opinions’!
Now onto value: ‘Value’ is in the eyes of the beholder! One man’s ‘pride and joy’ may be another man’s ‘piece of crap’!!
Some of the guys really love large heavy Sheffield’s, other don’t like them at all! I have a 6/8 near full wedge made in Sheffield that was my great grandfather’s and I like the shave, but it’s not my favorite shaver! I do use it and it does a good job, it’s just not one of the razors I ‘prefer’!
Sanfte Rasur, mein Klingenbruder!
