Default Safety Razor questions, All i know is its Gillette and kinda old

I have been using this razor for the past month preparing myself to move up to a straight razor.

Its quite old, but thats about all i know
The box says "Gillette" and so does the underside of the head of the razor, along with the gillette logo and made in the usa
On the bottom ring of the handle it says paten no. on package
Its the twist to open kind, where twisting the handle opens the top up like a pair of doors

Sorry if im not much help, i dont know to much about these things

If more pictures would help, just request what you want in them. The angle, and content and i will get right on it

    Thank you sir
I was wanting to trade it for a straight razor, if its not worth a whole lot i was going to add silver coins. but you dont get access to the classifieds on here for like a month :'(
and im a very impatient person.. I want a razor now.. lol

Anywho, its nice to finally know what it is. I have often wondered if it was real, or a reproduction

You would do best to hold onto that Gillette, your journey with a straight won't be as smooth as you think in the beginning. Your Gillette will pick up the slack, so to speak, as you learn with the straight.
When your able to enter the classified section, there is a place where you can trade just about anything for your straight; it does not have to be another razor.

Mean while, read the part of the forum that deals with safety razors, learn to lather, pre-shave prep, post shave treatment, get a sample pack for your Gillette.

Just standing around waiting for the lifeguard to let you jump into the deep end of the pool, without practicing your floating skills, will be a real eye opener when you hit that cold deep water.
