First Antique Store Find
Found my first decent Antique Store find. By decent I mean no major chips, rust decay, or scale damage. I cleaned up the blade with some 1k, 1500, 2k wet dry sand paper and a quick hand polish. Looks like the post 1969 logo to me, can't find anything about the model number 34 or anything.
There appears to be some substantial hone-wear, which unfortunately doesn't show up in pictures after the polishing. The back side of the blade, opposite the logo stamping, ended up with a very wide bevel in the middle portion of the blade. My skills on the stones are very minimal, so I'm not sure if I should bother trying to fix the geometry or just let it sit for a few months until I get some more time under my belt.

Thanked: 4827The first couple of old razors that I thought had a bit of hone wear also disappeared after cleaning. I think what I thought was hone wear was actually just the spine being a little shiny from the patina being rubbed off from handling etc. I hope that is what you are experiencing. If you wet sad with WD-40 or similar product you get less scratching in your finish. I think your razor is just fine. Get it honed up and I think you will find that it is a really great shaver. In my opinion Henckels often sell for less than they deserve, perhaps because there are a lot of them.

Thanked: 4827I can't tell for sure by looking at your pictures but check it with a straight edge. Any sway in the back should be exactly mirrored as a smile on the edge. In perfect geometry the edge should be parallel to the spine.

Hard to tell about spine wear because you only showed us one side of the razor and it looked good. Cleaned up nicely, nice find.
