I love to hear stuff like this........score +1. Well done !! P.S. Would be neat to know the story behind that blade given the shape it was in. Maybe someone got frustrated with shaving with it and just sold it for a sum to the unknowing antique shop ?

Something like that. I'm committed to using my last listing slot to sell something for a friend, so I'll have to find another sales avenue for this. I'm really not a collector.

There were a lot of razors of the earlier Empire wars and WWI era that were new and didn't have anyone to come home to them.

Don't be so quick to assume its celluloid. Could be Gutta Percha as well. Very sweet all around.

I love hitting the antique shops. Not much worth having very often, but every now and then a guy gets to shout "BINGO"!!!

After photographing it for eBay, I decided that it must be horn. I sure hope I'm right...

They often are horn in that configuration. You hit the jackpot with the pressed fancywork!

I wasn't prepared for old horn to be in such good shape, or to have such nicely beveled edges. There is obvious grain, though, and it's visible even in the bevels. The color loss, though, looks like horn. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
