The thing about DDs is that it's one of those razors that often goes for a lot of money(especially if it's in good condition), if they're worth the price tag is up to the buyer to decide.
If you are new to this, I would recomend getting a less expensive razor(a 5/8-6/8 Dovo is a popular choice, be wary of brands that are too cheap, Kriegar and Gold dollar for example), firstly because newbies tend to do more damage to their equipment than more experienced people and secondly, you won't be set back as much economically if you decide that this type of shaving isn't for you.
It is of course your money and you should spend it however you like but it might be a good idea to wait a little before you go all out on a hyped razor.Last edited by Baxxer; 11-09-2013 at 01:13 PM.

I don't own one but it's said to be a very fine razor. That being said, there are MANY fine razors out there. Some of the ones I own have names that no one has ever heard of and they are really good razors that take great edges. If you are starting out you may find it better to buy two or three razors rather than the one DD. I had a razor by another name that brings extremely high prices. It was a good razor but I found that they were simply not worth what people were willing to spend on them. When you see what the DD asking price is, you'll see that there is a lot to choose from in that price category. It might be the perfect match for you but weigh your options.

Thanked: 634They are good razors but expect to spend some money to get one. Baxxer is right. Get a Dovo or Ralf Aust from straight razor design. it comes honed and shave ready. good luck

Thanked: 3224I don't think I have read anyone calling any variety of DD a lousy shaver if that is what you mean. For the ability to shave they are probably a safe bet. OTH I don't know if they shave any better than other vintage razors in similar good condition or new brand name razors.

Thanked: 4826on the flip side if you do buy the DD and decide it isn't for you unless you damage the razor you will likely get your money back. DD is a very good brand and sell for a little extra because of that. I'm not sure that anyone new to straight will be able to tell a smoother shaving razor until they learn how to shave. So much of what gear we buy when is about experimenting and chasing our ever changing preferences. It is a place to start. A shave ready edge is super important, so buy from someone that you think is likely to give you that for sure. There are quite a few vendors and the classifieds are usually a good place to trust shave readiness.

Thanked: 1195Is your main question where to get a DD Wonderedge? If so then ebay is your best bet. Occasionally one will come up in the Classifieds. Just be prepared to spend some money - a WE in good condition CAN be found for a somewhat decent price but if you want excellent or mint condition expect to pay though the nose.

DD's are good razors and solid shavers, if you choose wisely!
Here's a thread by gssixgun on what he looks for when buying. It should help in your decision.
