Default Razor ID: Hamilton & Savage with Silver Cap & MOP Inlay

Does anyone have any information about cutlers "Hamilton & Savage" presumably Sheffield mfgs? I could find very little information on internet or SRP. Found one internet reference to a sale in 2006 of a similar fancy scaled H&S and one other reference in SRP with photo. Possibly related to George Savage but can't find anything about him in business with Hamilton. Believe scales have a silver end cap, mother of pear/silver inlay with fancy brass rosette washers? Razor is in excellent shape, and does not appear to ever been honed. Initially thought the scales could be a Pakistan replacements but now think they could be original as my research indicates that that Frederick Reynolds used silver end caps in late 1840s and early 1850s and T. Tillotson used similar mother of pearl inlays during the same period? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hamilton & Savage appear to have been in business at the same time as Geo Savage & Son:

The building - 26 Angel Street - appears to have been in constant use:

Joseph Deakin & Co, 1841, hardware dealers
Hamilton & Savage, 1862, cutlery warehouse
    A & J Staniforth 1871, coffee roasters

Whether H&S were makers or factors is debatable, as prior to 1841, Robson's Alphabetical Directory of Liverpool (published 1840) lists them as 'Wholesale Dealers, Birmingham, Sheffield goods'.

The date that Thos Rodgers records Hamilton & Savage - 1841 - shows a number of likely candidates. There was Edwin Savage, an iron moulder, his older brother Hugh, a penknife blade grinder and a William J Savage, a table knife grinder. Whether any of them are your men, I don't know.

    Regards,
    Neil

That thing reminds of a certain girl, wildly sweet.... just like then, I'd like to see her undressed a bit -- can we see a picture with the blade out?

Thanks Neal for the info on this company. Forgot to mention in my original post that the scales are probably black horn and seem to be in near perfect condition. It is amazing what members know and readily share with others. SRP is a great forum for those suffering with this hobby/disease. Stimpy52 asked for additional pictures. Here you go....Thanks, ajkenne

Look on ebay under Hamilton & Savage straight razor in the completed column. There is one that just sold with scales like yours.

Same one. Picked it up last week for $42. Happy about that. Trying to document it now. Will put an edge on it and add it to my rotation and getting out of hand collection of Sheffields.
