    Default My Grandpa's Carl Rader

My grandpa served in WWII and passed away 16 years ago. Nothing was distributed to the family until my grandma passed away last month. I received this. It's a Carl Rader (made in Solingen). We assume he picked it up during the war. The only information I've been able to find is that Dovo bought the company in 1957. Does anyone have additional information about history/quality? It needs to be polished up and honed, but I'm determined to shave with it.

Looks to be a nice razor. You are a lucky man to have such an heirloom.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

That is a fantastic razor. I have my grandfather's also. I did some research when I first got it and they have a good reputation. Alas I cannot shave with my grandfather's yet. I'm on the search for a new blade for it. I do use his brush though.
