Thread: Ugly Ducklings

Nope, Double Ducks are anything but ugly, to me they are in a vast category of razors I'll just call unobtainable. This category keeps getting bigger and bigger. Bring on the Ugly Duckling a razor I had on the forum awhile back which was noteworthy for what was written on the shank: Made by Experts Not in Germany. A curiosity at best. I just got around to cleaning up this razor and honing it. It is still a pretty ugly razor, warped celluloid scales, a little pitting but this razor shaves and I couldn't ask more of a razor than that (well maybe except to be beautiful like some of the SOTD razors). Still it is really satisfying to resurrect this dime store razor and add it to the mini rotation. The runt of the litter, it may never be my favorite but I know it will never let me down. Does anyone else have one of these, guessing yes.

The scales are a bit funky for my taste, but all in all I think this is pretty far from being ugly. A (possibly) Solingen full hollow, something like 11/16-6/8 with little hone wear is a nice razor in my book.

yes, very old n ugly... luckily my eyes are getting old n dim, I could take her in n give her a good home!
