Default OhOh! RAD kicking in. I just bought my first Dubl Duck!

I wanted a mother of pearl Satinedge but it went for $138 plus shipping.
I ended up winning a Satinedge with clear/translucent scales. It is labled Satin Baby which appears to be a smaller version (idk if smaller in lenght or width).

It came to about $90 shipped.

I probably overpaid but it appears to be in decent shape.

    What do you all think?
Any way to restore these scales to make them clearer?
It says 5/8. Does this look to have been honed a lot?

Just before this I lost an auction for a Dubl Duck No 1 for $78. I figured this was a bit fancier and not much more.

I don't think you overpaid. The blade looks fairly clean, Needs a polish. those scales are prone to degradation. 3M silicone soak seems to do it for me.

Congrats!! Nice looking razor. DD's are one of my favorites.

Here's an old thread on the Satin Baby. Scroll down a few posts and Glen has some measurements and comparisons in size to Dwarfs, etc. http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...y-restore.html

"Formerly clear/translucent scales". All translucent Dubl-Duck scales begin to yellow and, once it's begun, there's no cure, no "turning back the clock"... sorry. However, the lighting in those photos is from hunger: the white balance needs to be tweaked aggressively, and the hue and saturation also need to be adjusted. I see you already won the item. In that case, Mazal Tov! The photos show minimal hone wear. You might want to take new photos, once it arrives; then you can compare WYS to WYG, and then proceed accordingly. No comment on the sale price; stories of the guy who sees yours and hears what you paid, then says he knows where you could've gotten it for half-price are legendary (and, generally, not to be believed, or listened to). You bought it, you own it; it's yours. Learn how to use and enjoy it, and may the two of you have many good years together.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

As far as I have seen the Satinedge only came in the clear scales. Maybe you are thinking Goldedge or Wonderedge ? The link is of a Satinedge unless it says Baby on the tang and then you have a razor that has had it's pants switched. That will not affect the shave which is a very nice experience IMHO :<0) . Everything I see in the link says Satinedge at a decent price. Congrats !
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

What is a 3M silicone soak and where do I buy it?
Is it just a soak that adds a layer of protection?
I plan on flitzing it when I get it.

If the flitz doesn't work try some blue magic, a dab on your fingertip and rub.
