They can both give you equally good shaves period. The stainless may take a few extra strokes on the hone however I've spent way more time honing certain carbon blades than any stainless blade.
The reason the carbon is more popular is by the time stainless was readily available the golden age of straights was passed. These days those who use straights do it more as a hobby thing and the tradition and all that makes the old carbon razor king. Even though, there are plenty of new manufacture stainless blades being made these days.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 6I have the Dovo Micarta as well as a Theirs-Issard (carbon steel blade) from the Art of Shaving which I alternate daily.
I'm rather new to these blades, I've only used them for about two weeks and I'm still getting used to stropping them, which I strop them every night so they are ready for my morning shave. I've been using straight razor for almost two months now.
I've done the same routine, same soap, brush and aftershave with different results with each blade, so I'm pretty sure it's my technique, but... When I shave with the Dovo, after applying the aftershave splash my cheeks burn like hell. Way more than any other part of my face, and only with the Dovo. So it might be true that the Stainless Steel has more edge than the carbon steel, and it is a little heavier as the scales are wider than the TI so that could be an issue as well.
All in all I love them both, and I'm trying to get the hang for both of them as I use them but I've noticed some difference.
My 2 cents and I hope this helps you.
Cheers.

Could you tell me what finish stone you ended up with? Your sharpening routine would be helpful to me.
Thanks,

Thanked: 6Hi Jerry1, I would love to help you with that, but unfortunately I haven't got my hands into honing yet...
I bought the Dovo from one of the classifieds at the Badger&Blade forum and it was shave ready, and the TI was first honed by Max from this forum (the same trip I took to Vegas and bought it) And this was a couple of weeks ago so I haven't had the necessity to hone them again.
I would suggest getting in touch with Max as he's amazing! He's been providing these services for over 8 years or so.
Cheers.
