A Few Razors
Evening All!
I've been lucky enough to have a small selection of razors pass my way.
A Gillette DE, a box set Valet auto strop and 3 straights.
First, a James Dewsnap that has a small amount of wear and a few marks where it has been left for a bit of time.
Second, a George Butler, quarter grind I think, very clean and not a lot of wear, just the edges of the scales look a bit tatty.
And thirdly, a Puma 95 that looks as if it has never had an edge put on it. The blade looks new, in its original box, the only trouble with this straight is the scales look as if it it has been next to a heat source at some point! They haven't 'melted', they have just warped, bent like a banana!
My question is can these be straighten if I was to apply another heat source or would I be wasting my time, the only reason I ask is that the scales have the puma decal and it would be a shame to loose the originality because it looks unused.
Cheers

In theory Yes...
Pictures would help.
There are a couple ways to straighten scales.
You might end up cracking them though.
You can always transfer the inlays over too... That is another BEAST though....

I don't know if I've done this correctly, I'm on my phone!!!!
If it has worked you may also see the scales have warped at the top as well!

I "think" those will straighten okay.
Do a search on scale straightening and you will get a bunch of threads on how to do it..
Top right corner is the search box.

Chevhead, many thanks for the direction and your advice!
I followed the instructions and managed to straighten the scales, but it needs a bit more work to refine it.
Many thanks again!
