Thanked: 8The im getting old and i finally found it thread.
So about two years ago I "lost" my craftsman 9210 razor. I remember were I used to keep it. Then one day I decided to move it to A safe place so the NOS case didnt get messed up. Two years later I find it. I had put it in the back of my safe and it fell down behind the shelf. Box paper is now loose and there is one small rust spot on the spine. And a few tiny rust spots in the gold wash on the tang. Oh and the blade isnt centered anymore. A few taps will straighten that out though. I have been beating myself up over this for at least once a week for at least a year. Here are some pics.I am glad I can finally quit wondering where this one got to. Now where did I put that dou DMT. 10x4?

I have that kind of stuff happen to me at least twice a day. And I'm not even thirty :/
Cleaning up never did do any good, the more I clean the more stuff seems to disappear.

You need to get that razor out of those scales. That particular model is subject to nasty celluloid rot, and you've already got some going on unfortunately. If it stays in those scales it'll eat through the blade completely.

???
Cell rot would normally start between the scales where the off gassing can concentrate.
It would also be more prone to happen in the areas where the scales are yellow in color IIRC.
I see a rust spot but would not jump at calling that cell rot.
What points you to saying cell rot?It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!

Agreed! I spent all day driving and am probably not the sharpest tack in the box at the moment, so I definitely could've approached that better.
Clear pictures will help, but I'm pretty sure you'll find something similar to this:
Every one of those black flecks on the blade is a pit. You can see what it did on the edge, and the dark patterning directly corresponds to the clear yellow parts of the scales. It's especially telling that Irishguy's razor no longer centers right. That's a likely sign of scale warping, which you can also see in the pictures above.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.

I am of the same opinion that we need a better pic, but it is clear Void monster has had a bad experience with this same scale in the past. It seems different from other Cel rot I have seen pics of. Always good to err on the side of caution. At least keep this one separate until determination can be made.
Damn shame too, those are fine looking blades.
Irishguy, can you help me find the Dubl Duck blade I lost a few weeks back?
I had it in my tool box and was preparing to go to a meet and greet, and decided I didn't want it banging around in the box, so I put it somewhere safe..... guess what....
