Default Is it worth a restore?

I just acquired an old razor my mom picked up at a garage sale for .50 cents.
it looks like it has bone scales and has continental cutlery co Germany written on it with extra hollow ground on the blade. Is it worth trying to polish up I d like to add it into my rotation.

I don't think anyone can help you unless you include photos.

Well, these pics are a bit too poorly lit for me to make anything other than a guess but I'd say after unpinning the blade and sanding
with a progression of wet'n'dry you might have a keeper. More and better pics please, Sir !!

This is a bit better ....I see a few nibbles and chips starting at the toe and extending 1/3 of the way along the edge.
I believe they can be sanded/honed out. You really need to knock all the crud off first to see whats what.
Someone with more experience than me will be along soon to give you a more informed opinion.

Good luck and keep us informed !!

Good eye sir I didn't even see those lil nicks until I looked at the shadow of the blade itself. I d like to send it out to have it restored if it's able to be saved.

Well that's one option although it'll cost you. You could start the process by soaking in WD-40 for a few hours and then cleaning with a green Scotchbrite pad.

I think a quick clean up and a good session on the hones is in order.

Find good steel test drive it and if its a keeper, then a nice clean up is in order.
The bone scales should clean up nice and keep a bit of character as well if that is what you are after.
    Great score.
