    Default Second Shave With Straight

Hello, I just had my second shave with my straight razor. It was a bit better I looked at it with the blade on a flat surface and noticed light coming through a little bit a little past the heel then no light then again at the toe. Does anyone think this might be affecting my shave at all?

On another funny note, I was having problems with getting a good lather for a while then puting it on my face this time lathered up real good. Lol I just thought that was funny I even looked in the mirror with my hands in a WTH? gesture. Lol

I would not think it would effect your shave unless it was bad to the point it was almost unable to be honed.
Many blades need a bit of gymnastics when honing thus the heel forward and rolling x strokes due to things like this.
Out of the 10 razors I have out for my current rotation only one can be honed with a standard x stroke and pick up the entire edge.
To beat all it is a vintage Genco not the new production Dovo.

Glad to hear you are getting the lather down, now if you know what you did differently that would help
Nice thing is you can practice lathering without shaving and inexpensively to boot.

Keep at it it is going to keep getting better.
    It is just Whisker Whacking
    Relax and Enjoy!

Yeah especially with what I'm getting Thursday, I found a nice W&B at this flea market, I looked at it and looked for rust, pitting and along the edege of the blade, man, it was a thing of beauty and heavy! very wide spine and wide blade. $32 and it's mine! lol

Was the edge against the flat surface, or the side of the razor, if it was the edge your blade has a slight smile which is good, but finding this out could have damaged the edge. If it was on it's side then the razor has a bit if a warp.
Glad it went better for you. All the best

Well it was the edge but it was heel flush then slight raise then flush again then slight raise. it was on paper that i checked that also I have heard you don't put much pressure at all when you make a pass but it would cut nothing unless I put pretty firm pressure on the blade, and I'm like "that can't be right" lol

Well it will need honing now by the sounds of it. That doesn't sound like a smile, from what are describing it sounds wavy.
