Thanked: 0Info on Albert Jordan Co?
Hi - I have just started getting interested in straight shaving and have been lurking on this site for about a month and love it. Everyone is so eager and helpful! I have been using high end creams and a brush for about a year now but still use my Gillette Fusion to shave so this would be a pretty big endevour for me. Over the Thanksgiving holiday last week my dad gave me my great grandfathers old razor which was a nice treat. I have tried researching it a bit but with no luck. It says "Albert Jordan Co - Solingen, Germany" on the shank I believe and "Neverdull" is etched on the blade.
Does anyone have any information on this company? The only similar name I can find is AJ Jordan which appears to be out of Sheffield and not Solingen.
Thanks for any help!

A.J. Jordan is probably not your guy. A.J.'s given name was Andrew and not Albert. Albert Jordan was probably the proprietor of a small hardware company, barber shop supply, department store or any firm that sold straight razors in the last century. He purchased a job lot of razors from a supplier in Germany and had his firm's name stamped on the tang for resale in his place of business. The maker of your razor will never be known as there were many German razor makers putting out a line of inexpensive razors for hundred's of retailers at that time. Most of these "Made in Germany" razors were very serviceable and those from Solingen were even better since those makers were held to a higher standard.

Here is your guy. Looks like he probably owned a cutlery shop in New York City. According to Goins' Encyclopedia, F. Dick was in business from about 1877 until 1933 and dealt in all types of cutlery.

Thanked: 0Perfect, thank you Walt!
That's definitely the guy since that line of my family hails from NY. I knew it wasn't going to be a truely high-end razor but I figured that since it was made in Solingen that it was at least respectable.
Thanks again
