Thanked: 0opinions on Shave Nation??
Hopefully I didn't jump into something I'm going to regret. I ordered a 5/8 carbon steel round point razor made by Dovo from shavenation.com. I'm hoping I made a good choice here. I didn't see Dovo on the list of razors to stay away from so I guess I have that going for me in buying my first straight razor lol. As for shavenation, has anybody here used them before and if so what kind of service did you get? thanks

The Dovo will do you right. Congrats. Never heard of the vendor, but that's not saying anything.

Hi,
The DOVO should be a good place to start. I haven't dealt with ShaveNation, but I've heard their a decent retailer for DE razors and supplies. But, I think that their straight razors are sold with the factory edge. If I'm right about that, you'll want to get someone to hone your DOVO for you. Try the classifieds on this site to find a honemeister.Tallow soap is good cholesterol

Welcome to SRP!
Dovo razors are a very good entry level razor and are highly recommended here on SRP and other shaving forums. Is the razor supposed to come to you 'shave ready' as in honed by the vendor? If not you will need to send it to a pro to get it professionally honed to 'shave ready' keenness for a close, smooth, comfortable shave. Check the Classifieds here on SRP as there are several reputable vendors that treat you right."If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68

Thanked: 24I think Lynn's word is as good as gets in this community.
Dovo is one of the most reputable (modern) razor manufacturers for reasonable prices. The ones from the "best quality" aren't as stunning as a TI or some of the antiques, but they're good beginner razors. 5/8 especially.
I've never bought anything of shavenation, as I'm in the UK, but I've seen many of his videos and found them to be very helpful.

You can see geo on many YouTube videos helping people out. He seems like a straight up guy (once again pun intended).
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Thanked: 154Hi jbjohnson,
You chose... wisely. DOVO doesn't make any "beginner" razors; yours should serve you well for decades.
Best Wishes,

I work for Comcast and I hooked up Geo's new shop with internet, phone, and television. Geo is a great guy. In fact he loaded me up with goodies to take with me and he really got me interested in transitioning over to straight razor shaving. I was a safety razor shaver. He processes his order very quickly and even works Saturday. Try them out, you will not be disappointed.
