Thanked: 3Thoughts on scale materials
So I've settled on a Ralf Aust 6/8, Spanish Point, now I'm debating on scales. Wood vs micarta vs bone. I've never seen either or used either so I'm looking for any input. On wood I like both the olive wood and the grenadilla.
Thoughts?

Thanked: 634Is this your first razor? If so I would get which ever scales are cheapest. It is the razor that is doing the shave not the scales. If you like shaving with a straight you can always get new scales or another razor. Believe me you will not stay with just one razor. Once you get the bug you will want another and another and another. Good luck.

Ralf Aust are just fine with Heljestrand's scales.
I think with bone it would be great too.
