Thanked: 0Old straight razor I found
Hi, I moved into an old house about a year ago. I was cleaning up the basement and found this old straight razor. On the blade is engraved:
AUG LUTTERS
HOHSCHEID - SOLINGEN
Also there is a "10" engraved on the blade.
I also attached 2 photos.
Does anyone have additional info on this razor? Does it have any value?
Thanks,
Pat

Thanked: 177We don't give price appraisals here as is forum policy. But it looks like it will after honing shave well. Solingen steel and craftsmanship is excellent so I don't think you will have trouble shaving with it (after its honed that is). Good luck and nice find!

Value is in the eye of the beholder! What may be one man's garbage is another man's treasure!!
From the pictures you have provided, a 'simple honing' isn't going to do the job!! This is more of a 'restoration'/there are chips at the heel!
The task doesn't look that challenging, but remember that this is a vintage blade and there are so many things that could go wrong!!
Being from Solingen it should be a nice shaver! Here's a little history/I don't trust the site but it's a good start!!

Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
