Haddon Razor Date?
Picked this one up since it looked in decent shape. Scales were busted so I pulled those off and cleaned some of the crud off the tang to make it more legible. When I tried to find some info all I could find is ones that had "made in sheffield" on them so my question is does anyone know if this is an earlier model or a later one?

Thanked: 3164It is a make made by W R Humphreys & Co Ltd of Eyre Street, Sheffield, which was set up in 1879. In 1904 he got hold of John Wraggs works in Denby Street. These were originally called the Advance Works but Humphreys renamed them to the Haddon Works. W R Humphreys died in 1911 but the firm went on into the 1970s.
I would think that your razor was named after the Haddon Works, so one would think it was 1904, however there is no 'England' stamp on the tang (nor the company's corporate mark) so perhaps 'Haddon' meant something to Humphreys, and it pre-dates the McKinley Tariff Act of 1891.
Incidentally, Humphreys were fined for forging George Butlers cutlery marks in 1894.
