Thanked: 44Winchesters Razors
Saw a pair of Winchesters at the flea market yesterday. I did not know the history on them so I passed and picked up a Torrey. They were in good shape and the guy wanted $35 each(I know I can get him lower on the price). I have read some the info here, but still not sure they would be a good buy. Anyone got some input on these blades?

Good blades. Most have cheesy scales. If they are in good shape, I would recommend them. Most I see are about used-up. I know that I heard that Winchester had actual stores where all sorts of things with the name could be purchased (good name recognition!). I also feel that it is unlikely that Winchester made them. I think they were made by Geneva (by looking at them) or another American maker and stamped for them.

I rest my case.

Like Tom said, good blades, cheesy scales and subbed out to a razor company with the Winchester name etched and stamped. Guys who collect Winchester knives, and their stuff in general, are also potential buyers so they can bring more than they are worth to guys who just want a shaver.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Isn't there some connection with Simmons/Shapleigh & Winchester ?
I think some Keen Kutter blades were made in Germany, some USA. I only owned one Winchester but it had no country of origin stamp. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
