    Default Fromm 50 Red Head

I read here that the old ones were OK and the new ones are less than desirable. How do you tell the new from the old. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to SRP, The newer Fromm razor (like the one pictured below) usually are just marked Fromm on the scales and the etching on the blade Fromm made in germany.
The older Fromm razor will have a tang stamp Otto Fromm Cutlery Germany and many with Special 50 or another trademark like Red Head. My rotation includes a Fromm specail 50 and its a fine 6/8 full hollow German razor.

    Definately avoid the newer types.
