Thanked: 3226Mr Torrey and Mr Turner (Torrey Razor Co.) testifying at Tariff hearings.
I found this a pretty interesting read Testimony taken by the subcommittee on the tariff of the Senate Committee on ... - United States. Congress. Senate. Committee on Finance - Google Books . That is especially in light of today's global economy and free trade.

Yes, Mr. Turner was certainly an expert on the matter of competeing with foreign imports.
Seems the question has been decided these days and cheap foreign goods are still rolling in. I wish we had found guts to deny this and keep our industries going with better and longer lasting goods. If the government taxed imports like they tax me personally, they would not be selling cheap goods here and this country would still have a self-sustaining and quality manufacturing base. I rest my case.

Thanked: 4It's too late 10Pups, business wise. Big business has control of Congress, bought and paid for. We're living in a disposable society and the public in general likes it or we wouldn't have gotten there in the first place.
