Thanked: 0Anyone heard of this razor? Just curious
Hi, I bought a razor at a flea market a couple of weeks ago. It's a 5/8 square
point with yellow scales (plastic? don't really know the material). It has a few
blemishes but looks pretty good overall. As soon as I pry open my wallet, I'll
get a stone and sharpen it up. But I was wondering if anyone had heard of the
brand? I couldn't really find anything on Google.
On the one side, it says "Cross + Cut" with "trademark" under it. I.e. "Cross Cut"
with a plus or cross in the middle. On the other side it says "Non-Fragile
Non-Turning Razorite Steel".
I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this brand.

Thanked: 0I've actually never heard of that one. How can you be sure that it's not of dubious origin (*ahem* Pakistan)? I can't help but feel a little leery about it.

Pictures might be helpful. Is there a maker's mark as well?

Thanked: 0Okay, here's some quick pictures. I guess it could be from Pakistan, but it was
in an old cigar box with a bunch of other, somewhat ratty looking older razors. I
figured it was just an older American one. No maker's mark unless you count
the "CROSS + CUT" trademark. I just thought it was a little interesting and figured
it was probably worth the $8 the guy wanted.

Doesn't look like a "Packi" to me mate.
I couldn't find who had that trademark but that's not unusual as there have been so many razor manufacturers over the years. One of my best shavers is a HARMONY, no other details are on it and it's not fancy but it's one of the ones I pick up most often.
I say the 8 bucks was alright.
Have a good one

That's a vintage razor alright. Hard to say where its made. Maybe lynn will chime in with some wisdom here. I'd say its a quality razor.

I'll agree with the assumption that it should make at least a good shaver. I believe that it was a similar deal like Toyota's Scion.

Thanked: 5okay I just got practically this same razor in, was pretty rusty but restores quite well. I got lucky, it seems as though mine was practically never honed after the factory. The sucker honed right up in no time. Set the bevel on my 1k chosera and went up the standard line of SS stones.
WOW, the edge on mine is super fine and thin, really sings nicely. A very pretty razor. got mine for about 30 bucks shipped and could not be happier. Cross cut razor all the way!

Thanked: 1184Looks German to me and in good shape. Also looks like catlin (celluloid scales) so keep it cool and dry, out of the sun. Very nice for 8 bucks :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

As long as it hones and shaves, that is all that really matters. I have several no-name blades that are superb shavers.
