    Default I love free razors..

Isn't it nice when people know you are into straight razors and they come across one and just give it to you? Today that happened to me. Got this little 4/8 hollow ground F. A. Clauberg Tonsorial Gem from a funeral home owner who just happened to find it while cleaning out an old cabinet. It has some hone wear but the edge is in good shape. Still pops hairs off of my arm after sitting abandoned all those years. I'm going to do a refresh on the blade when I get home and see how it shaves. If it sucks, hey, free razor

Free is good I suppose, even for a 4/8

It's probably very unnecessary but if it was mine I'd want to sterilize it before I used it if it was from a funeral home.

That blade has nice character. Long tang. Bet it shaves great. All my little blades kick a$$. Free is good in my book.

Half of my razors were used to shave dead people in another life. I'm not concerned about 70 year old pathogens. I just clean them up with alcohol, polish them as best as I can, get them sharp and shave.

After cleaning it up, I threw the free razor on the Ruby barber's hone for about 8 passes, did 10 passes on CrOx on linen, 20 passes on bare linen, 50 on leather then shaved with it. I have to say this is an impressive little shaver. My first 4/8, which I wouldn't seek out intentionally but I will take any salvageable razor for free!
