Bare steel will react quite quickly with anything it can. Just polish the razor being careful to avoid any gold wash. If the polish contains wax, as some do, that alone will protect the steel in a dry climate. But in a wet climate steel needs all the protection it can get. Silicone lube wiped over Ren wax is hard to beat, along with storing the razor in dry conditions.

Once the razor is polished, waxed and lubed you shouldn't have to repeat the full process very often, maybe once a year. Just refresh the oiling/lubing regularly depending on climate and frequency of use.

    Hi Datsots

Thanks for that, decided to get some ren wax in the end. Blades have buffed up well, prepared to put up with faint marks I think, makes them look used as they should be. Will get some metal polish on them should I feel the need. Thanks.
