Thanked: 0Brand New Blade and Water Marks
Hi to all SRPers and Happy New Year
Well Santa was very good to me this Christmas. I must have behaved myself well because I unwrapped a new blade. Some how he knew that my new blade would have to be a 6/8 TI Mirror finish Spartacus with some beautiful looking Rams horn Scales with hook point and feston back. As you can imagine I was very excited and today gave it a test run. I am very pleased to report that it is a fine thing indeed and a pleasure to use however during the shave I noticed water marks on the non etched side of the blade. I can't understand how this has happened so rapidly, I have slight water marks on other satin finish DOVO blade but they took a while to appear and aren't that noticeable. I have been quite particular about the care of my blades with regards to keeping them dry and storage and having read various posts about the subject decided to leave blades dry with no oiling. There seems to me to be a 50/50 split as to whether to oil or not. I just wondered what the general feeling was with regards to watermarks, particularly on mirror finished blades. Should I just keep blades dry as always and just allow it to build up on blade or polish it out somehow? If I polish it out surely I will get the watermarks next time I shave and have the same problem again and end up with a continuous cycle of shave then polish until my blade disappears. Will these watermarks have any detrimental effect to the blade? I know this subject has been spoken about before but just wanted a bit of feedback on how you feel about watermarks on blade. Thanks
