Thanked: 0Bresnick Dubl Duck Special No.1
Hello guys new here,
I'm looking for some info on this 3/8 Bresnick Dubl Duck that I just got.
I've spent some time reading about the brand and I'm particularly interested on what year vintage this SR might be.
Thanks.

Oh, yeah - it started about twice the current size and at this point it is no longer a proper razor. Of course, that doesn't mean that one can not cajole it to remove hair, but that's more an 'extreme shaving' type of thing - pushing the boundaries on objects one can shave with
As for the year probably next to impossible to tell - bresnick had them made for many decades.

Thanked: 0I've been wanting to find a thin blade like this. Always thought they were interesting.

Well, I guess it is interesting that somebody can abuse a razor to such a degree. A properly maintained dubl duck should look exactly like the day it left the factory. Most of them don't, but this is really extreme. I'd be inclined to think somebody decided to make it into a knife, but there is so much hone wear along the spine which means the honing abuse was atrocious,

Thanked: 4249Welcome to SRP,
As Gugi posted previously, the Dubl Duck Special # 1 was not offered in 3/8 size.
If i remember correctly the company started as Bresnick, then Bresbuck, and later Pearlduck, so this razor would be at the beginning of the "Duck Dynasty" 1925?Last edited by Martin103; 01-10-2014 at 02:59 PM.

Good thing it was free, I thought it looked a lot like a Dubl Duck style edge.
The edge is perfectly straight, which is what threw me off as being a 3/8Last edited by TheRustyBlade; 01-10-2014 at 05:27 PM.

Probably 1930s. He didn't start using the DD name or logo for a few years. The Special #1 was his bread and butter model. He sold them by the thousands to barbers.

Thanked: 1184Maybe the blade got damaged. It looks like somebody made it into a styledge. They were used to trim around the ears and neck after a haircut. I suppose you could use it on your face.

Thanked: 0I wonder if it's worth getting it honed(the edge still catches on my thumb when rubbed),the scales and the rest of the razor look to be in great shape though.
Thanks for the input.
