    Default Hone and razor ID

    I have looked everywhere and cant find anything on the manufacturer of this razor

    I have read about the hone in the pic but how do i know the grit on it! Feels like a very high grit

    The hone is a barber hone. Modine at the razorandstone.com site has done extensive work on rating barber hones. You should check it out as it is quite impressive, both in depth but it will also give you insight on how he comes up with his information.

    Thanks! Their lots of info on the hone i guess but nobody has a clue about the razor

    There are quite a few guys here that are awesome historians. One of them will be along in due time with some info. I don't have very good resources and Im away from home as well so I'm of little help on the razor.

    Lee's Manufacturing Company of Chicago was a mail order type business, from around the turn of the century. The company used Agents to sell the goods from their catalog, somewhat like Amway.

    The few razors i came across from this distributor were German a very common business at this point in time.
    So you have a german razor made for Lee's probably somewhere areound 1920 +-.

    Yes - it's a Swaty 3 line hone I believe...I've seen the 2 lines and a 4 line!!

    There was a thread in the archive that rated the various Swaty's up to a 3 line.

    I need to try it... I wonder if ill improve the edge of my Chinese 12k ... I read one of the guys here has refresh some razors for years on just swatys and leather strop!
