Thanked: 0Info on my first razor?
So I ordered my first razor from the SRP classified. The razor is a H. Boker 327, sold by Zozo. Does anyone know what the steel, and scale material may be. I am assuming the steel is 327 SS. But I do not know that for a fact. Is there a way to know how old the razor is?
Is there a different care for SS vs. Regular steel?
Thanks in advance for any inofrmation you may have.

Most likely the razor is carbon steel not stainless, the 327 likely to be the model number. if I were to hazard a guess the age is 1920-1930s

Carbon Steel is more prone to rusting and requires more care than the Stainless steel, which is rust resistant.
If you are using it every day or two, and make sure it is dry before stored. You should not have a problem with it rusting.
Also I believe that carbon is easier to sharpen.

I was always told carbon takes an edge easier, stainless holds it longer.
I can vouch for this in my recent honing experience, at least the taking an edge part.
Both can rust, carbon more easily. I suggest a thorough drying for both, and storage outside of the humid environment of a bathroom.
