DD Satinedge
Hi,
I have been offered a near mint DD Satinedge for $95 inc postage to me here in Oz. The clear plastic scales have a couple of scuff marks on them, apart from that she is mint.
Is this a fair price for it do you think? I have been offered it before it hits ebay. How does it compare to the Wonderedge?
Thanks John

Thanked: 9who knows what it's gonna bring on ebay...
Mint is nice, for sure. I had a 7/8 that was an outstanding shaver. I also have cheaper (some - much cheaper) razors that shaved better, imo.
Sometimes they bring over 100 on ebay in mint condition, sometimes you can get one cheaper. WE is going to be much more expensive. They are made from different steels and the WE is cryo tempered, much harder
Incl postage sweetens the deal... If I didn't have one - I'd get it, if just to try. May lose some on relase but at least you'd have 1st hand experience.
Cheers
Ivo
ps - would it hurt to try to bring price down a bit?

Hi Ivo,
I don't really want to haggle with him, he is just giving me first option before posting it on ebay. He has given me other offers in the past, so I feel obliged to accept his going price if I want it.
I do have a WE, and was just wondering if it's worth adding to the collection for the sake of having it? I can always off load it later if I need to. And I have not really got on that well with the WE, for me it seems a bit light on and I have a problem with blade flex on my tough beard. And I'm not really getting on with the spike point, it nearly separated my ears from my body.
I have seriously stopped buying on ebay the last few weeks, as my ebaying was becoming very addictive.
But it's hard to not take up an offer like this, considering the price that anything DD is going for these days.
Thanks
John

Thanked: 9John,
My WE is also NOT one of my top shavers. Nothing to do w/ flex and lightness - just not sharp enough yet (I think). If it's really sharp it shouldn't flex much, just slice the hairs? Mine feels less than ideal sharp yet, but still gives me irritation-free good shaves (good, not great)
Iwan says his SE shaves better than his Livi, afair. And, as you say - you can offload it...
I have sold 2 SE, but keep the WE and a 6/8 GE round point. Some say the GE is just a SE with different scales - fine by me, I still prefer GE (after it's been de-golded, I'm not big on gold).
Good luck
Ivo

I suspect that razor would go for at least that much on eBay. 'Cuz it looks like a 6/8 I bet it would go for more. I'd say go for it and if you don't like how it shaves, sell it on eBay in a few months. You'll probably get more than you paid for it, especially if you take good pics, accept PayPal and ship cheap anywhere in the world. No guarantees though.

Well it certainly did, but after some work I got my ATS34 Maestro Livi shaving about equal (probably more through luck than skill!) to my DD Satinedge. I haven't been able to get my Takeda Maestro Livi quite as good as those two yet. My Lynn-honed DD Satinedge is still one of my best shavers.
If it's in good condition and I had $95 spare (which I don't) I think I'd buy it.

Thanks guys for your input.
I know I cannot resist the temptation any longer, I will be adding the DD Satinedge to the collection.
