    Default my collection

I'm new to straight razor shaving and so I thought I'd like to share my collection on here with you.

here's a photo of the razors I've collected over the last 2 years

    from right to left:

'Breidora' - 6/8 hollowground, plastic handle
'Cyril Salter' - half hollowground, plastic handle
'Krauss' - 6/8 hollow ground, celluloid handle ( so I've been told)
    'Excel' No.2 - 6/8 hollow ground , celluloid handle.
'Dovo Astrale' - size 5, hollow ground, Ebony handle with silver shield.

The Dovo Astrale is my 'shave', it and the Salter were presents, the Krauss and Excel were bought as rusted up lumps for £20 (about $35) and a few hours work brougth them to this condition, the Breidora has just been bought off a friend for £20. So I'm a happy man

Nice - I'm partial to blades in 6/8 & wider, so the Breidora & Krauss interest me. A couple more, and you'll have yourself a week's setup, heh?

that's what I want to eventualy aim for

Altough I think I'll probably be swapping the 1/2 hollow ground 'Cyril Salter' for another full hollow ground when I get to that stage

    Default nice collection

I guess you are not the obsesive type. I bought my first real straight this january a nice Geo Wostenholm little did i know then that 2 months later i would be the proud owner of over 24 razors. DAMN YOU EBOY! Ive gone completly insane. Of the 24 i think i am gonna keep 18. They range from near mint to needing lots of work. Heres what im gonna keep

    - Red imp 132
    - Engels FWE SPECIAL
    -2 xGeo Wostenholm
    -Thiers Issard #69 Médaille d'argent
    -Wade and Butcher
    -Dubl Duck SatinEdge
    -Dubl Duck Special #1
-Dubl Duck GoldEdge ( in the process of being fixed up, 1/8'' th of inch chip, we'll see if i can salvage it)
    -J.A Heckels 401
    -Bismark
-Carl Rader ( Monster of a blade, 7/8''
    -Griffon carbo magnetic
    -M Jung Our Special
    -Red point
    - J David
    -Genco

The rest im prolly unload in one lot on ebay and try to recoop some of the astronomic amount of money i've invested!

All things considered when i include the 100$ for my norton and the 50$ for my two strops ive prolly spent upwards of 500$

although i may ive overspent for some razors on eboy, especialy for the DUBL DUCKS! damn you lynn!!! I'm really happy with what ive got and I'll try somehow to stop compulsivly bidding on every lot i see on ebay! Although i am thinking about adding a Boker to my collection. I'm looking foward to spending the next year or so polishing these babys up and restoring them to theire glory of the Olden days!

And to think that when this all started i was refusing to purchase a strop because i felt my belt could achieve the same results as a professional strop! How foolish was I!

well I don't know if i'm obsessive or not but since my first post, I 've traded away the 'cyril salter' and gained :

a 5/8 Genco, full hollow, square point,
A 5/8 Dixie Manufacturing full hollow,
    A 6/8 Mapping Shilling 1/2 hollow
    A 4/8 spike point J.A. Henkles

and I have my eye on a brand new 'Bismark' I saw in a barbers window when visiting a friend last week

    Fred,

I joined around the same time. Currently at ~70 razors and with the hones, strops, soaps and all the equipment I've bought to be able to hone and rescale my own, I'm at >$1,000. I'm hoping to sell enough to get myself in the black again as well. Gotta love it.

PS Picked up a 6' drill press today... because, you know....
