Thanked: 0F. W. Engels Perfect Temper Scale Material?
I recently purchased this razor off ebay and I'm trying to figure out what the scales are made from. They don't seem to be the regular celluloid I'm used to but I thought Engels shut down in the 1940's so I'm curious what other types of materials would look like this. Thanks for the help!

I am certain they are of Celluloid. Neat razor!

Thanked: 0Sharptonn, they don't have the shape of my other Engels scales and they seem to be a lot more ridged or sturdy if that makes sense. I am very new to this so I'm just trying to learn all I can.

The cutoff for Engels seems to have been 1943. An expected demise, as many, prior to WWII. C.W. Engels was the German manufacturer and F.W. Engels (brother?) was an American importer/agent. We see the C.W. Engels angel and harp on some and the 'Hansel and Gretel' of those imported by F.W. Engels. Pre-war, surely celluloid. I have a few of what I consider to be later made ones and the scales, while celluloid, are thicker. The 3 pin design would make them lots stiffer as well.
