Thread: Any good custom / hand made / restored vintage under $400 available now?

Hi all,

I had a hand made razor on order but due to circumstances it is no longer available, so I am in the market for one. Would like something either custom/hand made (not specifically made for me) or alternatively a beautiful vintage razor that is a bit different from the standard (ie large (not long) blade, interesting shape, exotic scales or similar).

Would appreciate any suggestions. I have spend hours searching online, and haven't found anything that is available or trustworthy... Ive taken suggestions from this site to be careful buying on ebay as I dont have the knowledge so that has limited my options. Id like something either new, or in almost perfect restored condition as I dont have the skills yet to restore myself.

Budget up to 400 delivered, or slightly higher if there was an incredible buy.

That was actually the first place I looked but didnt see anything that tickled my fancy.

Keep an eye out there. Stuff is ALWAYS popping up.
PLUS you are ALMOST guaranteed it will be a GOOD razor...

Have a look in the Custom Builts & Restoration Forum here and see if something strikes your fancy. Then you could always get in touch with someone and see if they have something available.
As far as Custom Makers go, here's a bit of a list.

I wonder if Bob Allman is still making razors. There have been a few posted here that seemed really nice. Maybe you could reach out to him. Good luck with your quest.

You can get a Robert Williams custom, new, honed, stropped, delivered and ready to shave. Prices are in Cdn. I have 5 of his razors and they all shave fantastic.

AndrewJM you might want to keep an eye on Ebay seller cedarfurnitureman and his offerings. He is one of the premier restorers on the planet and will put up stunning and sometimes very rare classic straights.
