choices...choices
help me choose:
looking for a razor to round out my existing 6 razors into a 7-day rotation. I am considering these:
5/8 round tip Ralf Aust
Boker Silver Steel 6/8
Thiers Issard 1937 Special Coiffeur 6/8
I'll be buying from SRD
My current rotation is:
Dovo Best 6/8
Dovo Pallisander 6/8
Burrell TOp Flight 5/8
Torrey 5/8
Grah Plumacher Silver Ring 6/8
Genco Army and Navy 5/8
I am hesitant to go for the 5/8 Aust as I think I really prefer a 6/8 blade.

Are you sure all of those models are in stock?
I have the Aust and have been very happy with it.

Since you've already tried the 5/8's and prefer the 6/8 you will probably regret buying the 5/8 Ralf Aust. I'd look around for 6/8 Aust or buy one of the others. I have a Silver Steel and like it a lot but be aware that it is an extra hollow ground blade. The difference in feel between it and your Pallisander1226850 is like night and day. They are great shavers but require a bit of extra attention to angle and stretching or they will bite. (I suppose that could be said of any razor now that I think of it.) I'm not a big TI fan myself but that's just me - plenty of guys here swear by them.
Of course, your best bet would be to get one of each of them and start on your second set.

There isn't a significant difference between a 5/8 and a 6/8 IMO, why not go for a 7/8 or bigger? I laughed at the idea of using one of those monster blades, but when I grabbed the Revisor 8/8 off the Classifieds, and really just grabbed it because I wanted to try a Revisor and figured why not try an 8/8, (if I don't like it I can put it back in the classifieds), I was quite apprehensive about using it, first time taking it for a shave, I was surprised and really pleased with everything about it, is a fantastic blade...you've tried of end of the spectrum, go to the other, and live large!!!
Cheers!

OF the 3 listed I'd go with the Aust first, then the TI - but save the anguish and just get all 3, you're going to do it eventually anyway...

I received a a 7/8 Ralf Aust Round Point for Christmas and purchased a Thiers-Issard Bison 6/8" Red Stamina as a belated birthday gift for myself which I received a couple days ago. Both are fantastic shavers!! You will be happy with either the TI or the Aust. I personally like how the TI shaves, just a little more than the Aust...probably because I'm still getting hang of using the 7/8 which seems much bigger than the 6/8!! Good luck with your choice!!

TI 6/8
If you think you prefer 6/8, then most likely you will end up definitely preferring 6/8 IMHO.
The Austs are nice but not significantly different from the German blades already in your rotation.
I'm all for variety and a singing TI is sweet.Piyush

I would go with the TI - I love the TI's in my collection - they are easy to hone and take a great edge.

I have a 5/8 and a 6/8 R. Aust, as well as a 6/8 Boker Silver Steel. They are all great shavers. You can't go wrong, except if you really want a 6/8 you should get one or you'll second guess yourself.
Keep in mind as someone said, next you'll be going for another anyway, so that you still have 7 while honing one, then you'll go for a 14 day rotation
