Thanked: 0Ralf Austen VS TI Special Coiffeur
Hello,
can I have quick recommendation on one over the other. Both entry models from SRD. I've read about quality problems on the TI's entry levels and I was wondering if it's something to be concerned about.
The TI actually looks way cooler than the Ralf Austen, but I would like a reliable blade as its something I won't buy everyday.
Thanks

Both of mine are real good. I think they are of equal quality. Just IME.

Never had a TI, but I have two Ralf Aust's that I like better than my DOVO

My 5/8 Aust is one of my most basic and "cheapest" new blades I have. I use it more than any other blade. I also believe it holds an edge much better than my TI or my Dovos. Forget looks if you can. I truly believe the Aust is a better blade all around.

I think they are all good blades and you can get great shaves from any of the 3 for the rest of your life. With TI you just have to examine it carefully and if it's not right return it. I think on an absolute scale the TI's are a cut above the other two.

I have a 7/8 Ralf Aust (I received as a Christmas present)and a 6/8 TI Bison. The RA is wonderful, very smooth and comfortable. My TI was delivered 3 days ago (shaved with it twice) and I love it. IMO the TI provides me with a noticeably closer more comfortable single pass shave than my RA. Part of that could be the size of the blade..and the fact that I'm relatively new to SR shaving. Either way you choose I think you will be happy!

I have several TI's and a Ralf in my collection - in my opinion the TI is a better blade. They are both easy to hone if you're into that sort of thing. All my TIs are more pricey models so I have no experience with their entry level offerings. The steel is the same and that's what matters - well, that and whomever hones it.
