I remember my Grandfathers being in the bathroom as a child and just thought it was cool and when he passed away many years ago I ended up with his razor it stayed on a bookshelf up high at my parents house while I was growing up and to young to use it then I joined the Marine Corps and pretty much forgot about it until I was in a cigar shop and saw they Straight Razors and got one and started using one. Now I have my Grandfathers Razor and many more of my own and a son that is just as interested in straight razors as I was at his age he informed his younger brother and me last night that the razors that I has collected thus far were his and that he would let me use them for now If I could only get him to pay for them.

I started with a EJ 89 lbl after using a electric for 40 some years, didn't get a close enough shave. After first shave with DE I could not believe how close a shave I had. I make my own aftershave and shave soap. I used a DE for about a month and decided to try a SR just to see if I could use one. I ordered a shave ready SR from wipped dog and had a not so good experience, so liking to be in control I ordered sharpening stones and went at it with the advise of this forum. I still am learning how to hone and get that perfect edge. I love to collect different SR's, probably have 30 or more straights now and enjoy sharpening and shaving with them. I have gotten into restoration and really like to work with my hands. But most of all I enjoy taking my time and using a SR. I also have started shaving my head with a DE, got to get my courage up to use a straight. The people here are full of advise and very knowledgeable about every aspect of shaving, and I will be ever attending their every word like a sponge soaking up water. To bad our forefathers didn't have access to the internet, who knows what would have happened to our shaving industry and knowledge about SR shaving.
