Thanked: 0Thrift shop beginnings
Hi all!
Start off by thanking you all for the wealth of information i've picked up from this site over the past few years. I've been carrying a mental list around for a while with what to keep an eye out for with regards to my first straight. I stumbled across two yesterday i thought would be a good place to start.
Let me know what you guys think, I will send them off for a professional hone so i know what level i need to achieve with my whetstones. Anyone good around Toronto?
So what are your thoughts people? Any guesses as to value? I guess considering i got them for 20 a piece i can't complain?!

Thanked: 3215Unfortunately we do not give values as they are very subjective. You can search on sites like EBay to see what similar razors have sold for. Suffice to say you got a great deal for the condition of your razors.
It does seem the previous owner was a bit heavy handed with a barber hone on the toes of the razors making them somewhat smilers, but they will still give great service for many years to come.
Nice find, love the tortoise scales. An avid book collector, I too haunt thrift stores have not found any razors, many great book though.

Thanked: 3228Both razors are well known brands so you should be good there. I am wondering if the same person owned both as they have heavy hone wear to the toe of both. Regardless of the they should both hone up well. Valuations are not done on this forum. Photos are slightly dark so really can't tell about any pitting/rust.

Thanked: 0I was thinking the same thing with the honing wear on the toe. Still pretty happy with them for $20 a piece!
Now to find a brush and get these bad boys honed. Hopefully somewhere local so i can expedite the process!

Near Toronto? There's Phil at classicedge.ca
I have never used his services, but many others have spoken highly of him and his service.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

That's quite the score. Congratulations! Those two should make great shavers.
