I got the Naniwa 3K/8K combo. A King 1K bevel setter.
I grid lap my stones with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a marble slate. Buying a DMT 325 for lapping is probably a better idea, but this works just fine for me.
Did you lap the 12K yet?
If you didn't discover it yet, here's a list of razors to avoid:

I follow the Lynn Abrams' method, but a little loosely. I'll go from the 12K to the CrOx felt, CrOx leather and then the strop is on!...
I recently saw another newer vid of Lynn's where he mentioned the CrOx sweet spot in his experience was 4-7 laps. I did just that and either he is spot on(and we know he is) and I am becoming a better honer or both!!! best shaver yet!
I'm really excited to hear your enthusiasm. I can say that from just before I started until now, I could never have guessed at that time that I would be into doing what I am now, nor to the degree of my enjoyment.Last edited by Siguy; 02-13-2014 at 12:00 AM.

Thanked: 21I'm sure I'll be honing and setting bevels but for right now I'm happy just keeping what I have with a nice sharp shaving edge ! ;-)

Really really nice starting setup you have there stretch! Looking back I wish I had the foresight to start off with not only the razor and strop, but the crox and a 12k naniwa. As for the next step, the mid-grit combo stones are the logical choice, and the naniwa 3/8 as Siguy said is an excellent one to go with. Happy shaving!
