Thanked: 0ID Help
Hey everyone! Grandad passed this down to me. He said he thought it was around 110 years old. He remembered that I had wanted to start shaving with a straight razor. Is this worth restoring, or keeping as a family heirloom?

The razor is pretty much what is says on the tang. It would have been made in one of the many Germany factories that made razors that were branded for the retailers.

Definitely worth restoring in my opinion. Pretty standard razor with above average scales. Not much cleanup looks necessary either!

Thanked: 60+1 on very worth restoring. Doesn't need much work at all. A bit of metal polish and a good honing and it will be in business. Cool scales, too!

Thanked: 4827If you are looking for opinions let me get mine in too! I see a bit of rust on the tang that should be addressed. That is the only real issue I see. You could get that taken care of by a pro when you send it out to get honed. It is a hardware store razor. They had them made in Germany, most of them are pretty darn good shavers. You might like a round point to start with. Family razors are always the best shavers! Enjoy

Thanked: 4827You don't have a location listed on your profile. It makes it a little tough for people to reach out to you. You can also look for a mentor in your area. I'm not sure how that works, I'm a long way from everyone.

I chose someone from the SRP classifieds that was close to my geographical location. Some of the vendors offer restoration services in addition to their honing services.
