    I noticed on several Sheffields that NON XLL is there. what does that mean. thanks

    It means none excell. This is found on Joseph Allen razors.
    There are other variations on the X theme. Wostenholm has IXL ( I excell) and I have seen another brand use something like Xlnt (excellent).

    O NO. Does this mean th Joseph Allen razors an no good or are they saying they are average

    They are stating that no other brands is better, as in no other razor excels theirs. Victorian marketing!
