Default Thoughts on this "7-Day set" and two others?

    Hi guys,

I was inspired by some of the displays you've posted and went to an antique mall today to look for something I could repurpose and a scuttle. No luck on either of those, but I did come across a few razors I was interested in. The owner will be back in tomorrow and I'm planning to go speak to him, but would love to have your thoughts first.

    The "7-Day Set"
The box for the set says Joseph Rodgers, but 6 of the 7 blades are George Butler & Co. They all have a picture of Shakespeare and a (slightly) misquoted line from one of his works. The blades all look to be in really good condition, as well as the scales on 5 of them. On the 6th, there's a significant chip in one of the scales. The 7th razor has no markings and is not in great condition... probably just thrown in to make a full set. He's asking $195.

    The Mulcoto

I'm honestly notfamiliar with Mulcoto. The razor felt great, had a weight that was really comfortable, and the blade seemed nice. In this pic, it looks like a tiny bit ofcorrosion on the edge, but I really didn't notice it while holding it. I'll look again tomorrow.

    The Henkel
This one felt similar to the Mulcoto, and was in the same condition.. I'm not sure on the price, since there wasn't a tag, but I'll ask tomorrow.

If I do end up with any of these, it will be an exciting day tomorrow... my 7/8 Ralf Aust from SRD should be getting here, too!

I'd need to have a closer look to confirm but it looks like the 6+1 set have ivory scales, we don't do valuations so I'm not going to begin to speculate on what you could get for the set on the bay but for that price I'd take it, assuming that the blades are in good condition.

I'm a sucker for the seven day set boxes. That one from what I can see is in nice shape, although really all we see is the inside of the lid, In my mind that has a little value too. I would grab the seven day if the box is truly in good shape and the six razors are decent. I love the shave from my Henkels and would give that serious consideration. My two cents.

Thanks RezDog. The box was in really nice shape. Not mint, and missing the key, but still nice. Since I went looking for storage, having that box is a plus. Of course, it doesn't help the storage since it's already full... but hey. That's a good problem. I also read that those razors aren't that uncommon, so finding the 7th would give me a goal to shoot for.

The George Butler set will most likely be ivory scales. Look on ebay at boxed ivory 7-day sets, you'll see many are going quite high right now. However keep in mind this is not a complete set.
