    Default Hess 44 bellied?

Has anyone else noticed that their Hess 44 has a very subtle belly to the grind?

My Hess 44 is the same. This blade profile is created by a manufacturing process called "double grinding".
Also, the Hess 44 blade is made of stainless steel which is a real pain to grind.

Yea, I know, was just wondering if they were all the same considering they could have been supplied from different makers. So far that makes two that are bellied.

Sorry Hirlau - couldn't resist, had to...but your stunning snip was worthy, as always!

How wide is the blade on the 44?
have not seen a belly on anything less than a 7/8 blade.

what is meant by bellied? I have 3 Hess 44's and never noticed anything different about them other than they're a-w-e-s-o-m-e!

OKay, I check my three Hess 44's and they are all bellied. I also checked my other razors 2 Wester Bros. 6/8, Griffon Carbo Mag. 6/8, and my Ralf Aust 6/8 these are subtle but you can feel it. I checked my Robeson 7/8 and an I. Oxley 5/8 I have also, and neither of them are bellied.
