Default Burl laminate scales with ebony backer

I have been hard at it making some scales and found that wood scales are the most work I've ever done. Synthetics are the best in. Terms of 100 years of use but there is magic in scales that are made with fine burls and 9 to 15 coats of cyanoacrylate. It is a lot of work. I really like using rosewood and fine snake wood sets. I am going back to synthetics as it's a lot of work and it's so much work inspecting all those minuscule imperfections found in. A ca finish

Here are Buckeye Burl scales that were too hard and brittle. One of the scales snapped in half. Then they were lined and laminated with a thin piece of maple. They are now holding up very well.

    Wood does break. Be careful.
