Thanked: 0Antique store find
First post after a long time of lurking. I picked up the razor in the pictures from a local antique store. The pictures are not the greatest, I'll upload better ones later if needed. It's a J A Henckels soligen and has a number 8 on it. I've been looking for info on the age and anything else about it but have come up short. Hoping you guys may be able to shed some light for me.
thanks in advance

I hope you got a discount off that price, a huge discount.
Any rust near the edge is a problem. it's possible that razor has seen it's best days and then again it might clean up OK
Personally I would have passed but if you want a challenge, you got it.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0Thank you for the input. I paid 20 for it. I took a look at it under a loupe and it does not appear to be rust ( no pitting or anything) it just appears to be patina. I could be wrong on that as I'm new to straights but we will see. I look foreword to getting it cleaned up. Any idea on the age?

scales look great (assuming horn). If they're not horn, they've likely been replaced. The profile there speaks mid-1800's to me. I have a few English razors from then.

Thanked: 634Can't see the logo on the shank too well. Checked strazors.com and it looks like very late 1800's. Look closely at the logo and check the site yourself.

If the edge is not rusted it will clean up nice and give a good edge.
